BUK Announces 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening, Releases Admission Cut-Off Marks

Bayero University Kano (BUK) has officially announced the commencement of its online Post-UTME screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to a statement issued by the university's Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, the screening exercise will run from June 19, 2026, to August 16, 2026.

Who Is Eligible?

The university stated that only candidates who:

  • Chose Bayero University Kano as their first-choice institution during the 2026 UTME.
  • Attained the minimum cut-off mark for their chosen course.

will be eligible to participate in the screening exercise.

Highest Cut-Off Marks Released

BUK disclosed that Medicine and Surgery remains the most competitive programme with a minimum score requirement of 250.

Other highly sought-after courses and their cut-off marks include:

Faculty of Health Sciences

  • Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) – 250
  • Dentistry – 220
  • Doctor of Pharmacy – 220
  • Nursing – 210
  • Medical Laboratory Science – 200
  • Physiotherapy – 190
  • Radiography – 190
  • Optometry – 190

Engineering and Technology

  • Software Engineering – 200
  • Computer Science – 190
  • Cyber Security – 190
  • Architecture – 190

Social Sciences and Arts

  • Law – 200
  • Mass Communication – 180

Medical and Biological Sciences

  • Pharmacology – 180

Most other programmes across education, agriculture, science, management, arts, and social sciences require minimum scores ranging between 160 and 170.

Screening Registration Process

The university directed eligible candidates to complete their registration through the official BUK screening portal using:

  • UTME Registration Number
  • UTME Aggregate Score

Applicants are also required to pay a ₦2,000 screening fee through the university's approved payment platform.

O'Level Upload Mandatory

BUK emphasized that candidates must upload their O'Level results on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The institution warned that candidates whose results are not uploaded on CAPS will not be considered for admission.

Warning Against False Information

The university cautioned applicants against providing false information during the screening process.

According to the statement, any candidate found to have submitted incorrect or fraudulent details will be automatically disqualified from the admission process.

BUK also advised candidates to register within the stipulated period, noting that late applications will not be entertained after the portal closes on August 16, 2026.
